synchronized diving

Great flying conditions today — good breeze and mild temps. Getting crowded but not too bad where we like to fly. Carly and Gizmo did two very long flyabouts at the beginning, flying tightly together. Gizmo has started to do some dives like Carly and today they were doing it synchronized. So cool! Later Annie and Otis started doing a bit of diving as well. On our way back in we met up with a few people who wanted to talk and Carly fell in love again, but this time it was a dark brown-haired guy. She was behaving well with him and we did a few recalls back and forth, then she hung out on his shoulder wanting head scratches for quire some time. She had her head down and eyes closed at one point. Then would just sit very still on his arm — even beak grinding at times. When we left I thought she seemed fine, but when she came back from a long fly she wouldn’t take a treat. This is a first ever at the beach, so I knew something was not normal. Then she began to try to fly to other people around us again. But it was time to go anyway, so we headed in.

Started with a big, long fly south past the lifeguard tower, then all the way north near the pier, circling around and back, lots of flying very high with a group of seagulls. Responding very well today to “this way” calls to turn toward me. Afterwards very calm, rode on shoulder and did medium size loops as we walked in to work.

Checking out what’s above.

The walk in. Otis and Gizmo met us down by the pier while Annie practiced recalls at the wall.

In for a landing. I swear she tries to make these as dramatic as possible.
