Preparation for outdoor flight requires a solid foundation in recall training using positive reinforcement, as well as learning to use operant conditioning in all aspects of a bird’s life. It is not something that should be undertaken lightly or rushed. Although it is not complicated, it requires daily practice and lots of consistency, starting with indoor training. You need to be highly aware of your environment, your bird’s body language, potential predators or other dangers, etc. Never attempt this on your own without consulting someone with experience who can help develop a training plan, observe you and your bird, and demonstrate for you what you are aiming for.
